What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and How Does it Help with Addiction
This is a short, informative post about cognitive behavioral therapy. This is the type of therapy I use in my practice and it is one of the evidence based treatments for addictions. Thanks to Brittany writing over at Sober College for the information.
Cross Addiction: Is It A Myth?
C. Scott McMillin writing over at the RecoverySI blog is talking about the term “cross-addiction” that is often used in treatment settings. I agree with him when he says that the term may not be scientifically derived, but still has significant meaning in a treatment setting.
When Things Fall Apart – Beginning to Deal with Addiction in Your Family
On the Seeking Serenity blog this week, MomShiningLight is writing about dealing with addiction in your family. She talks about the disruptions and behavior changes that she started to see, and then talks about providing limited solutions. Very powerful.
Finally, I am posting one of the new Budweiser commercials. I am not a fan of alcohol commercials in general, although there have been a few thoughtful ones over the years. This has gone viral this week. It touched me, and it has a beer company talking about being a responsible drinker; a good thing. A shout out to Screedler at the Discovering Alcoholic because that is where I first came upon the video.
That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend!
